Sponsor a family or individual getting back on their feet!
If you’d like to adopt a family for monthly donation. Please let us know. Many of the families and individuals we work with are struggling to make ends meet after leaving their abusive partners or exploitative situations. Your sponsorship would help a survivor cover the cost of:
1. A Subway pass to get around for work and school
2. Money for transport to and from work
or school3. Diapers and other necessities for children at home
4. Education or vocational start-up expenses
MataHari will keep in touch with you and match you with a family or individual in need. You can choose the time commitment you would like to maintain based on your ability to give.
1) Sponsor the purchase of an electric wheelchair For one of our survivors who was paralyzed by a gunshot wound inflicted by her ex-partner, after she left him.
2) Sponsor families to cover the cost of their subway passes or monthly transportation
3) Sponsor the cost of a woman who left the state to flee her partner, get back on track by helping her cover the cost of her real estate licensing fee, so she can become self sufficient by getting back to work. ($800)
4) Support a woman to cover the cost of her groceries
5) Support a woman and her daughter, who fled their home for safety from domestic violence, who need a little help to just cover their car/gas bills so they can get back and forth to work and school for about the next 4 months (till October 2009), while they work to get back on their feet.
